Donald David Miller, 81, of Loveland, CO, died on August 1, 2011 at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. He was born on September 12, 1929 in Russell, Kansas to David J. Miller (an immigrant of German descent from Russia) and Natalia (Strecker) Miller.
Don graduated high school in Abilene, Kansas and later attended college at Colorado A & M, now Colorado State University.
He married Sheila Ann Bever on August 27, 1955 in Hot Springs, South Dakota.
Don served in the US Air Force for over 27 years, retiring in 1979. Upon retirement, he and Sheila moved to Loveland.
He then worked as a radio-chemist for Public Service at the Fort St. Vrain Nuclear Power Plant, retiring in 1996.
Don enjoyed building model airplanes, riding motorcycles, gardening, and working crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Miller of Loveland, son, Dr. Donald Miller and wife Yuko of St. Louis, MO, and daughter, Dr. Natalie Miller and husband Dr. Kevin Ryan of Raleigh, NC, and grandchildren David, Daniel and Katja Miller, all of St. Louis, MO, and Erin, Sean, and Patrick Ryan, all of Raleigh, NC. Donald is preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Raymond, Paul, and Albert Miller and his sister, Eleanor Steinle.
A private family graveside service took place on Saturday, August 6th, 2011 at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Russell, Kansas. Condolences may be left for the family at www.kibbeyfishburn.com.
